Christina embodies the Rotary Moto of "Service above Self" and channels her passion for justice by for advocating for the vulnerable. Empathy is a central component to her practice – she knows that while running her files is her job, to her clients, it’s their lives. Christina treats every file with that principle in mind.
Since she started at VanderLeek Law as an articling student, Christina has gained a breadth of experience and has begun actively seeking to expand her expertise in planning for the transfer of assets upon death, protecting the interests of the elderly, assisting executors and beneficiaries with estate matters and advocating for the appointment of guardians and trustees for adults who have developmental disabilities or incapacity.
Prior to attending law school at the University of Calgary, Christina obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Public Health and Gerontology at the University of Waterloo.
Her prior work experiences are diverse, including applied cancer research, public health planning and evaluation. Christina is also the co-founder of FullSoul Canada. A not for profit organization aimed at equipping hospitals in Uganda with medical supplies to protect the health and safety of mothers, babies and practitioners during childbirth.
As a professional, Christina has gained invaluable skills that have helped her become a confident advocate; an avant garde lawyer with a unique perspective.
Christina is also a proud Rotarian and loves giving back to her community here in Calgary and beyond. Her advocacy skills have been recognized with multiple awards, including Avenue Magazines Top 40 under 40, the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award, YMCA International Peace Medallion, and was chosen among 1 of 6 in the world for the United Nations People of Action Young Innovator Award from Rotary International. Christina’s passion and dedication has driven the success of her personal and professional milestones with more to come.
When Christina is not working, she is spending time with her two children, Harris and Maya, and her husband, Hyder. In her spare time, you can find Christina doing puzzles, playing sports, and cheering on the Calgary Flames (when they are playing).
